Visit a spray park:

Spend the day at Telus World of Science:

There are so many fun things to do  at TWOS including the new Nature Exchange area, Curious City and the feature exhibit – Mythbusters! Easily spend the whole day here with the kids exploring and learning

West Edmonton Mall fun day:

WEM is filled with fun kids activities. Skating at the ice palace, Sea Lion show (and marine life), Mermaid Tales on the Santa Maria boat, Galaxyland, World Water Park, face painting, free petting zoo, tons of food and snack options all over, shopping and more – see WEM’s social sites for times, prices and upcoming special events at the mall.

Visit Jurassic Forest:

Walk through paths in a boreal forest setting filled with over 40 anamatronic dinosaurs – see more info on Jurassic Forest here.

Visit the Royal Alberta Museum:

Kids 6 & under get in free – in addition to the huge, detailed exhibits (including the feature Vikings exhibit) – they have an amazing and fun kids area. A mammoth pass gives you access to the museum for an entire year and pays for itself in just 2 visits.

Test Your Adventure Level at the Aerial Park:

The Snow Valley Aerial Park is open from May until the October Thanksgiving weekend. Multiple levels to explore with fun obstacles – it’s pretty much an enormous jungle gym. There is even a black-coded ninja course – get all the details here.

Road Trip: Calaway Park

Edmonton Corn Maze:

The corn maze is open for the season! Explore the maze, play games, feed animals, picnic & more. See details here.

Visit the Zoo:

See the animals, visit the new interactive Urban zoo section, ride a train, and explore all of the play areas made just for kids!

Go to a Upick Farm:

Go to an Outdoor Movie:

Outdoor movies are scheduled in & around Edmonton every week in August. Some are even free! See the titles, locations & showtimes here.

See a movie:

So many amazing movies have been released so far this Summer – and more coming! Check out:

  • Landmark theatres are the ones with reclining leather seats. They have comparable prices to the regular theatres but also have an awesome Sunday Kids Deal – and you can pick your seats online before heading to your movie.
  • IMAX movies – seeing a movie on this giant screen is like nothing else. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, the IMAX is showing all 8 HP movies at the end of August!

Green Shack Program:

Check the schedule and head over to your local park for some structured play, crafts and games with a City of Edmonton employee running the free Green Shack program in your neighbourhood.

Head over to the Edmonton Public Library:

The EPL has multiple scheduled activities, classes and camps for kids all Summer long. Check their website for the full list and details

Catch a Craft at Michael’s:

Michael’s Stores are hosting kids crafts from 10 am to Noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays this Summer. Call your local store to confirm their participation and for information on theme days.

Take the Kids Golfing:

Kids are free to take along golfing with a paying adult this summer at over 700 golf courses across Canada. See the Edmonton and area locations participating in the program here.

Visit the Snow Valley Aerial Park:

With multiple levels, this aerial park is great for challenging all skill levels – see more details here.

Go Bowling:

Kids can bowl for free all Summer at select locations – see info on the Kids Bowl Free program here.

Hawrelak Park:

Make it a family day – picnic and play at this gorgeous park. Feed the ducks, rent paddle boats and enjoy the sun.

Play Indoors:

Spend the day at the Legislature:

Water play in the wading pool and water features at the Legislature is free! Great place to go on a hot day (bring snacks and make it a picnic lunch!) and they even offer indoor and ground tours on a regular basis!

 

Tip: If you’re visiting more than one City of Edmonton attraction, consider the Attractions Pass which will give you the best deal on admissions to multiple family fun places in the city.
