As I settle into the realization that I am now in my 30s (years after it happening), I am noticing all sorts of things around me change. I have exchanged the need for sleep (I need it more now) for a lot more patience with the kids. I need quite a bit more down time at home than I used to. I think a bit longer before I act. Most of the changes are very welcome, with the exception of a couple of grey hairs spotted, and some wrinkles starting to form…
The biggest change I have noticed is that if I do not take time for self care, I pay for it mentally and physically. I definitely need to get enough sleep, especially if I want to get through the day with the kids – coffee just isn’t enough if I am sleep deprived. The other biggie – I need to be on a skin regimen, or it really shows in my face – discoloration, sun damage, and fine lines taking their place. Don’t get me wrong, I want to age gracefully, and am actually fond of the smile lines around my eyes… but I also don’t want to start looking unhealthy because I have neglected myself for so many years. Yes, the kids need to be taken care of first, but it comes to a point when Mom needs a little something too.
I was recently gifted a couple of items from the Elizabeth Arden line, and wow. The award winning Skin Renewal Booster promotes a healthy look of the surface layer and helps promote natural renewal. The anti-aging serum is a miracle, adding these to my daily routine has made a huge difference. At first, I just noticed it, which is all I really want, to feel good. But I actually got a couple of compliments lately on my skin, which is even better! Check out the Elizabeth Arden line HERE for more details, and remember ladies – take a bit of time for yourself, too – don’t underestimate the power of striving for body and mind health, feeling good about yourself!
Thanks for the tips! I have to get better at the not going to the store when you’re hungry one!
Great post,I truly believe that getting at least 8 hours of sleep is key to improving life quality in general, but especially for runners and athletes. I ensure quality sleep by making the bedroom a technology-free zone (meaning no TV and no phone) so my brain knows its sleep time the minute my head hits the pillow! 98% of the time I sleep like a baby, (and to your point about alcohol or caffeine, drinking those the night before usually negatively affect my sleep so I hear you on that!)
