When I was in school my teachers used to tell me how lucky we were to live in Canada. I never understood why. Everything was just normal. Then I got older and saw what people go through in different parts of the world, and thought, wow. We really are lucky to be from North America, where we don’t have other countries invading us, we have clean water, food, access to social services, and education. After 18 SCHOOL shootings in the United States in less than 2 months in 2018, I’m even more grateful that I’m specifically Canadian. So glad we don’t have to worry about easy access to firearms and murders at school happening on a regular basis. My heart is with every parent who got up this morning without their child in this world with them anymore. What a terrible tragedy. Here’s to praying that all children everywhere stay safe, and our children continue to come home to us safely at the end of their school day.
