Playground Play “Crawl” in Support of the Edmonton Food Bank
Come to one or come to all! Edmonton Playgrounds Jill has arranged four locations throughout the day for local families to get together and play at select parks in the City – bring a donation for the food bank and stay to play at her top picks of playgrounds for 2023.
When and Where: Saturday, September 2 from 10 am to 5:30 pm
- 10 am to 11:30 am: Maple Playground – Maple Road & 8 Street NW (Home of Edmonton’s biggest rope climber)
- Noon to 1:30 pm: Rundle Heights Playground – 3310-107 Avenue (Edmonton’s newest zipline playground)
- 2 pm to 3:30 pm: Rocketship Park – 122 Street & 112 Avenue (Giant rocket-ship playground)
- 4 pm to 5:30 pm: Uplands at Riverview West Playground – 204 Street & 25 Avenue (Tandem swings + the coolest beehive)
Free Disney Symphony Concert at Sir Winston Churchill Square
Come down and enjoy music from Disney family favorites such including: Encanto, Tangled, Cars, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, and more! Shows are approximately 2 hours each and will end with a firework display. These shows are completely FREE to attend!
When: Friday, September 1 and Saturday September 2 at 7 pm

Alberta Day Celebrations at the Legislature
Bring the family to celebrate Alberta Day at the Edmonton Legislature – activities run all day and include: KidZone, tours, live music and performances, mini hockey, food trucks, build-your-own-tipi, magic tricks, drone show and more
When: Saturday, September 2 from 11 am to 9:30 pm
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Hit up an Outdoor Pool
It’s the last weekend to enjoy outdoor pools for the Summer! Kids 12 & under get into City of Edmonton pools FREE! Get more info, the full list of locations, and details on what each pool offers here.
Star Party, Elk Island
All activities are free with valid park entry! Information booths, beaver town discovery, food trucks, “Dark Sky Investigator” performance by Alberta Parks, and stay after dark for night astronomy on the beach
When: Sunday, September 3, starting at 10 am
Where: Astotin Lake, Elk Island Park
Sweet Sweet Corn Fest at Prairie Gardens
Bring the family down and enjoy: mini corn maze, petting farm, lawn games, flower maze, corn eating contest, kids crafts, treats and more. Admission is $17/person ages 3+ (save $2/person when purchasing admission online) + kids under 12 dressed in scarecrow or fall fairy costumes get in this weekend for FREE

Labour Day BBQ And Family Fun at the Stadium
Hosted by the Edmonton & District Labour Council – come down with the family and enjoy free hamburgers, hot dogs, taber corn, frozen treats and more. Live music, huge bouncy castle, meet the ELKS promotional team and participate in giveaways!
When: Monday, September 4, 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Clarke Stadium – 11000 Stadium Road
Grosvenor Dog Swim
Bring your dog for a swim and play/fun – admission is by donation, which will go toward helping SCARS. Gently used pet item donations will be accepted on site as well. No public or lane swim for people on this day!
When: Monday, September 4 from Noon to 2 pm
Where: Grosvenor Outdoor Pool, 1 Grenfell Avenue, St Albert
Fort Sask Sheep Leaving Parade
Come down to say goodbye to the sheep with a parade, and stay to feed them – apples + carrots provided for free!
When: Monday, September 4. Parade is at 11:30 am; Sheep feeding is from Noon to 1 pm
