I have a few little tips that work for me, that help me get through that really terrified feeling, so that I can look back and think “Wow…it really wasn’t that bad”Write it Down | When something starts to bug me, when I get that never ending stomach ache I write down what is causing me to be anxious and then I walk away from it for a bit. Usually, once I’ve calmed myself down and I come back and read the note I have a much clearer mind and I can just get the task done or I can look at it and think “there is no need to be worried about that”Get it Over With | If I have a meeting or a gathering or a situation that’s causing me anxiety, I try to just take a deep breath and do it. I always try to tell myself “this is just a temporary situation, you’ll feel so much better once it’s done”.
Essential Oils | Essential oils have been a game changer for me. Lavender oil really works for me so when I’m feeling “that feeling” I’ll Diffuse some Lavender and it seems to take the edge off.
Break the Cycle | This one is going to seem a bit harsh, but when the same situation comes up and I have the same reaction to it, sometimes you have to think “is it really worth it?”. If something doesn’t bring you joy, then they don’t belong in my mind.
These are some things that worked for me. If you have any other tips/tricks or you deal with something similar, I’d love to hear from you!
The Gift of Big Worry – And How to Deal With It
I’ve got a gift. I can almost any situation and worry it into something huge! Okay, this isn’t a gift, but it’s something I deal with everyday. Something as simple as not remembering to put a note in my daughter’s lunch and by the time my mind has gotten a hold of that thought, I’ve worries myself into thinking that she’s not going to feel loved and I’ve affected her self esteem.
Going to a family gathering should be a happy occasion, but I feel anxious for days before going. Even something little like putting up a picture on Instagram or writing this post, I can feel my anxiousness creeping up.
