You Can Eat With the Kids on a Real Train in Ardrossan: Katie’s Crossing

There is a little place just off the beaten path in Ardrossan called Katie’s Crossing. It’s a restaurant has a vintage style and is inside of a real train. If you’re looking for a cool experience, head over for lunch or some ice cream!

Where:

Address: 22137 Township Rd 530, Strathcona County

Katie’s crossing is just east of Sherwood Park. Head east on Baseline Road (it turns into TWP RD 530) and the restaurant is on the South side of Range Road 221.

Hours:

  • Thursday to Saturday – 11:30 am to 8 pm
  • Sunday – 11:30 am to 7:30 pm

Tips for bringing the kids:

  • Find somewhere to sit first. There is indoor seating in the train or picnic benches with umbrellas outside. The orange car is for ordering, and staff will bring you your food when it is ready. It’s a smaller ordering space and I recommend ordering while the kids are at your table, checking out the vintage decorations and set up inside, or while they play outside on the train play structure.
  • Bring cash. This restaurant takes cash only.
  • Save room for ice cream! Several flavors to choose from including Tiger ice cream (That one can be hard to find!)
  • Stay to play – there is a train play structure just outside that kids love to play on

Katie’s Crossing serves items like: Fish & Chips, Hot Dogs, Burgers, Fries and Chicken Strips. Prices average $10-$15 per plate and there are several flavors of ice cream to choose from at $4 per scoop.

Hours for Summer 2019 are as posted on the Katie’s Crossing Facebook page, but change from time to time – check back there or give them a call to confirm if you are unsure!
