YEG Candy Cane Lane 2022: Walk Night, Drive, or Book a Sleigh Ride

Candy Cane Lane is one of Edmonton’s must-see events of the season. The majority of the neighbourhood participates in festive decorating and light displays on each of their properties. The event is the second largest contributor to the Edmonton Food Bank.

YEG Candy Cane Lane, 2022:

There are multiple ways to enjoy Candy Cane Lane with the family. Come after dark, always dress for the weather – gloves, hats and scarves are always a good idea! And don’t forget to bring a donation for the Edmonton Food Bank.

When: December 9, 2022 to January 1, 2023 – 6 pm to 10 pm nightly

Where: YEG Candy Cane Lane is currently situated on 148 Street between 100 Avenue to 92 Avenue

Walk the Lane:

Opening night of Candy Cane Lane this year will be a WALK ONLY evening. No cars will be permitted to drive from 5 pm to 10 pm on the following Saturdays in December: Dec 10, Dec 17, Dec 23.

Walking can take quite some time, but it’s an amazing experience. There are activities and games, warming stations/fire pits and lots to see!

Tips:

  • Dress for the weather, plus one extra layer
  • If you have a little one who can’t make the full walk, bring your stroller. Both sides of the street have sidewalks all the way down, and are cleared regularly.
  • Bring a backpack to store extra layers and a walking snack
  • Come with hot chocolate. Parents: great time for coffee & tea

Drive:

Drive the lane: Cars move at a very slow pace, but that gives you time to take it all in. Remember – get your passengers to take the photos/videos!

Sleigh Rides:

Horse drawn sleigh rides go down and back the entire lane. Each sleigh can fit 18 people, and the ride is approx 45-60 minutes long. Cost is $20 per person, but lap infants under 24 months old are free. Pro tips: Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time and bring a cozy blanket or two!

Tickets for sleigh rides go on sale on December 1 at 9 am – they do sell out every year, so book sooner than later!

When:

  • December 9-11
  • December 16-18
  • December 21-23

Where: The start & end of the sleigh rides are at St Andrew’s United Church – 9915 148 Street NW

Booking: Tickets/bookings for sleigh rides will go on sale November 23, 2019. Watch the website for updates.
