It’s the holiday festival season in Edmonton! We have rounded up a list of the Ultimate list of family-friendly events and most beautiful light displays you are going to want to see this year with the kids:
Zoominescence: Festival of Light
Lights at the zoo – fire dancers, hot chocolate, light displays and more.
When:
- Friday to Sundays from December 3 to December 12, 2021
- Daily from December 17, 2021 to January 2, 2022
Where: Edmonton Valley Zoo – 13315 Buena Vista Road,Edmonton
Winter Wonder Forest:
Walk throug holiday light experience – 7 full acres of space! The area is transformed into an enchanted Winter forest. Among the beautiful holiday light displays, you’ll find: Santa, train rides, horse sleigh rides, snow maze, food and character appearances. Pre-book your time slot and stay to explore for up to two hours.
When: Daily from 2 pm to 9 pm; November 25, 2021 – January 9, 2022
Where:Â New location this year: Longriders RV Park – 23136 Secondary Highway 643, Gibbons, AB
Winter Whyte Light Up
Watch the light-up of Old Strathcona, see light displays, vendors, ice carving, photo booths, maple taffy stations, Christmas craft kits, light tunnel, live roving entertainment, giveaways & more.
When: Saturday, November 27 from 4 pm to 7 pm
Where: Wilbert McIntyre Park – 8303-104 Street
Strathcona County Celebration of Lights:
Wear your ugly sweater and come on down for this year’s outdoor event. The 2021 display is free! Things to see & do include: interactive lighting, LED tree show, inflatables, fire dancer and character appearances including both Santa and the Grinch! Donations for the Strathcona County Food Bank will be accepted on site.
When: Saturday, November 20 – 3 pm to 5 pm
Where: Festival Place – 401 Festival Way, Sherwood Park
Magic of Lights:
Come see different Christmas themes come to life in light displays through this 2 km drive close to Leduc.
When: November 18, 2021 to January 8, 2022
Where:Â Castrol Raceway
All is Bright on 124
The light up of 124 street will include light displays, live music, street performers, face painting, winter activities & more – all outdoors
When: November 20, 2021; 4 pm to 8 pm
Where: 124 Street (road closed) between 107 and 109 Avenues | Main Stage: Helen Nolan Park, 124 Street and 108 Avenue
Lights Up, Fort Saskatchewan:
Check out the model train, warm up at the fire pits, take photos at the custom photo booth & warm up with some hot chocolate. Pre-registration is required. Cost: free
When: Friday, November 26 – 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: City Hall and the Public Library – 10005-102 Street, Fort Saskatchewan
Leduc County Lights:
Lawn display spans over 8 acres at it’s new location close to Leduc. Admission is $2 per person.
When: December 1, 2021 to January 2, 2022 – 5-10 pm (Except Christmas Eve – closing time this day is 8 pm)
Where: Leduc West Antique Society – 45941-Range Road 260
Merry & Bright Parade, Devon:
Parade line up includes Santa, the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, Glow Dancers & more.
When: Saturday, November 27 – 5 pm to 8 pm

Festival of Trees
The Festival of Trees is back for 2021 both outdoors & online! You can even order a fully decorated Christmas tree up until November 15 that will be delivered right to your door.

Slight Rides with Santa & Mrs Claus
When: December 4&5 from Noon to 4 pm
Where: Skyview Centre – 13304-137 Ave

Luminaria:
Candle-lit paths, hot chocolate, Capella singers, ice sculptures and more + special event nights. Cost: $11 + up (kids 2 & under are free) – tickets must be purchased in advance. They sell out every year so get yours soon!
When: Daily from November 27, 2021 to January 9, 2022 (aside from December 25)
Where: Kurimoto Japanese Garden, University of Alberta Botanic Garden – 51227 AB-60, Spruce Grove
Christmas Glow, Edmonton:
Half a million twinkling lights, interactive displays, magical play park, train rides, LED swings, Santa and more. Ticket prices vary.
When: November 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022
Where: Edmonton Expo Centre – 7515-118 Avenue, Edmonton
Candy Cane Lane:
Candy Cane Lane will be back for the 2021 season! Drive the iconic street in West Edmonton this year. Sleigh rides will be available for just 8 nights, tickets will be on sale December 1 at 6:00 pm.
When:Â Nightly starting December 10 to New Year’s Day
Where:Â 148 Street between 100 Avenue to 92 Avenue Edmonton
Downtown Holiday Light Up:
Starting on November 20, come down every second Saturday for a day full of family friendly events. (Noon to 8 pm) Cost: free!
When: November 20, 2021 to January 2, 2022
Where:Â Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton
