It’s the holiday festival season in Edmonton! We have rounded up a list of the Ultimate list of family friendly events and most beautiful light displays you are going to want to see this year with the kids. Check them out:
Downtown Holiday Light Up:
Sir Winston Churchill Square will turn into a Winter Wonderland – watch the lighting of the tree, listen to carolers, maple taffy on snow, hot chocolate & cookies and more. Cost: free!
When: Thursday, November 14, 2019 – 5 pm to 6:30 pm
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton
Tree Lighting Ceremony, Hotel MacDonald:
Live music performance, hot chocolate, cookies and more at the lighting of the tree ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. Check out their 20 ft tall gingerbread house in the lobby while you’re there.
When: Friday, November 15 – Noon to 1 pm
Where: Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, 10065 – 100 Street, Edmonton
Strathcona Celebration of Lights:
Kick off the holiday season with photos with Santa, letters to Santa, face painting, wagon rides, cookie decorating, campfire cooking, hot chocolate and more. Cost: free! Donations for the Strathcona County Food Bank will be accepted on site.
When: Saturday, November 16, 2019 – 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Where: Festival Place – 401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park
Prairie Christmas Bazaar:
Santa photos, free face painting, holiday themed workshops, train rides, indoor petting zoo, Winter play farm and snow slide, free make & take gifts, marshmallow roast, festive lunch and more. $21 per car load – you can purchase in advance on their website.
When: Saturday, November 16 & Sunday, November 17, 2019

All is Bright on 124:
The “Light up the night” ceremony will happen at 6 pm. Enjoy live music, street performers, fire dancers, children’s activities, sleigh rides, food trucks and more. Cost: free!
When: Saturday, November 16, 2019 – 4 pm to 8 pm
Where: 124 Street & 108 Avenue, Edmonton
Stony Plain Christmas Light Up:
Holiday lights and the town Christmas tree are at the centre of this light up event. Find: live DJ, coloring contest, treat and treasure hunt and photos with Santa (starting at $5 – cash only) – event is free, but donations of toys or non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Kinsmen Christmas Hampers.
When: Thursday, November 21, 2019 – 6:30 pm to 9 pm

Enjoy Light Festival:
Come check out this enchanted Winter Wonderland full of lights. Interactive light gardens, photos with Santa, light tunnel, food vendors, market and more. Cost: Kids 3 & under – free; children & seniors – $10.95; adults: $20.95
When: November 21, 2019 to January 5, 2020 – 4 pm to 10 pm
Where: Enjoy Centre – 101 Riel Drive, St. Albert
Magic of Lights:
Come see different Christmas themes come to life in light displays through this 2 km drive close to Leduc. $25 per car or $20 per guest on the horse power hay ride (among other options)

Snowflake Light Up Festival:
Traditional Christmas celebration you won’t want to miss. Ice sculptures, live reindeer, live entertainment and winter displays. Cost: free

Where: Perron District, St. Albert
Lights Up, Fort Saskatchewan:
Enchanted forest, Christmas story, Santa, hot chocolate and more. Cost: free
When: Friday, November 22 – 5 pm to 7 pm
Where: City Hall and the Public Library – 10005-102 Street, Fort Saskatchewan
Christmas Glow, Edmonton:
Half a million twinkling lights, interactive displays, magical play park, train rides, LED swings, Santa and more. You’re not going to want to miss this one. Ticket prices vary.

Festival of Trees:
Over 100 decorated trees, kids activities, breakfast with Santa, market and more. Cost: Child (2-12) – $3; Youth (13-17) & seniors – $7; Adults – $12. Breakfast – $10-$20.

Lawn display spans over 8 acres at it’s new location close to Leduc. Admission is $2 per person.

Christmas in the Park, Devon:
Luminary maze, visits with Santa, kid zone, live ice carving, Christmas carols, bon fires and more. $15 for a family of 4; $5 per person; kids under 3 free

Zoominescence: Festival of Light:

Luminaria:

Candy Cane Lane:
New this year – walk-only opening night! Stroll, drive or book a sleigh ride to enjoy this iconic street in West Edmonton. Food bank donations accepted.

The Village at Pigeon Lake has a wonderful light Display in their town square. It’s beautiful. There are sleigh rides on the square on Saturdays and the Village Emporium has an amazing display this year called “Oh night divine” Check out
