Starting a Backyard Garden With the Family, Made Easy by Salisbury Greenhouse

Building your own garden this Spring/Summer? Head into Salisbury Greenhouses for everything you’re going to need to get growing! Scroll to the bottom to check out the upcoming FREE workshops they run every weekend.

Reasons to grow your own fruits and small vegetables:

  • Affordability! Grab your veggies right out of your garden instead of heading to the grocery store
  • Get outside – gardening is relaxing and is a fun hobby.
  • Family time: Get the kids to help; make some fun memories and to teach them about growing food at the same time

What we bought to get a small garden started:

  • A variety of vegetable seeds
  • Seed-starting trays
  • Nutrient enriched soil specifically for planting food
  • A raspberry starter plant (our fav!) – they had three different colors available – we are trying the gold, which are supposed to be the sweetest
  • A succulent plant and mini pot, not for the garden, but because it was just so cute!

Why we chose Salisbury:

Salisbury has a trusted name and their greenhouses are enormous! It’s a one-stop shop for everything you could possibly need for your garden – from seeds to planters to garden statues – and the layout is gorgeous. Give yourself some extra time; you’re going to want to look around!

Tip when visiting Salisbury with the kids: ask the staff about the children’s greenhouse scavenger hunt so the kids have something fun to do while you browse.

The best part: Salisbury staff love their jobs and are happy to help with any and all questions you have about anything they sell. At Salisbury, if you are not sure, or want a pro’s opinion, just ask!
