Free Harry Potter Festival full of magical activities – October 12, 2018.

Expect other people to be in costume – and great ones at that! We attended last year and the uncanny Moaning Myrtle, Professor McGonagal and Hagrid costumes are still something we are all talking about, and excited to see again this year!
The event is free to attend, and there are several Harry Potter festivities to part take in at no cost. There is a Diagon Alley market where you can buy all sorts of Harry Potter themed items, costumes, memorabilia, and more. Food trucks on site, and butterbeer being served. Play real life Quiddich, participate in Wizard Yoga and see even more things to do in the library.
Additional activities are available as well, and tickets are anywhere from $5-$25. Tickets for paid events need to be purchased online beforehand, as sales are not available for them on site, HERE. All net proceeds go to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
Some of the things you can look forward to are:
  • Non-alcoholic Butter beer (no alcohol will be served at the event!) made from scratch – $5 each
  • Magic Manor escape room (Tickets: $15)
  • Magical Express Train with Harry Potter characters (If tickets are sold out, sign up for the wait list! $25)
  • Hogwarts classes
  • $20 quiz putting your Harry Potter knowledge to the test – winners are awarded prizes!
  • Practical Magic movie screening ($15 tickets)

And so much more. This is an all ages event, so bring the kids! Find out more info, get tickets, and stay up to date on the event page, HERE.

Tips:

  • Dress warm – it can get cold later at night, and you might not want to leave so quickly!
  • For any ticketed events, get your tickets ASAP before they sell out
  • It’s fun to dress up, and you will NOT be the only one if you do! You can get HP themed items locally, here (schedule a pick up or get 1-2 day shipping), or Halloween stores have just started to open all over the city! *Kijiji & FB Marketplace also have some great finds!*
  • It’s ok to come hungry – there are lots of snacks and food trucks to choose from, but expect to stand in line for them!
  • Wear comfy shoes, there is a lot of walking involved in exploring the festival
  • Have a great time! This event is only one day a year 🙂
