Klarvatten Park Review, North Edmonton. Want a Relaxing Atmosphere? Go Here.

Klarvatten Park is on Klarvatten Road, just north of 170 Avenue on the North end of Edmonton. It is a beautiful area surrounded by an oversized field. The area was originally zoned for a school, but the city has been asking for other suggestions about what to do with the area, as the area does not need a new one at the moment. So, for now, it is just an enormous area for kids to run around, play soccer, ride their bikes, play tag, climb the hill in the centre, and oh yes, play in the park!

The playground area is split into two sections: The climbing equipment, and the swings & mock rock wall area. The climbing equipment is great for elementary aged kids, with lots to climb, a 3 height spinning contraption, and a tall slide. Toddlers probably need Mom or Dad up there with them, as it is easy to get up, but would be a pretty scary fall for a little one, with not much of the highest part blocked off for smaller child safety. Definitely fun for the older kids, though!

The entire play area has wood chip covering, so no need to worry about coming home with shoes full of sand after playing here. The swing area has baby and standard swings, and a smaller rock-climbing-style half wall off to the side. In the centre of the play area is a handful of picnic benches, so there is plenty of space to sit and watch the kids, or even have lunch! Great for meeting other moms for coffee, and the picnic area is surrounded with a sidewalk, which is wonderful to walk or jog around if you want to stay active while the kids play (I like doing this if the day has left me any energy), or the kids can ride their bikes, rollerblades, or in my kids’ cases, Heelys, around the area and burn off all of that extra energy they somehow find within, every single day. A suggestion of a game of tag doesn’t hurt anything, just saying.

The park is not right on the main road, so lots of safe space to play. It also makes it a quieter place (depending on the volume of the children) – and is very relaxing overall. One thing is for sure, it’s a nice place to watch the sun start to set. And then realize you stayed at the park way too late because it’s Summer so sundown means bed time was a while ago. Oops.
