Summer 2026 | Free Family Activity
Kids Golf FREE This July in Edmonton
The Take A Kid To The Course program is back, and it means one paying adult gets one free junior round at hundreds of Canadian courses. Here’s where to go in the Edmonton area.
Looking for a reason to get the kids off screens and outside this summer? Here’s a good one: Take A Kid To The Course is back for 2026, and it means kids under 16 golf absolutely FREE when accompanied by a paying adult at hundreds of participating courses across Canada. Yes, free. Zip, zero, nada for the green fee.
The program runs July 6 to 12, 2026 at most participating courses, with a handful of Alberta spots extending the offer through the full month of July or even the entire season. Whether your kid has swung a club before or has zero idea what a birdie is (mood), this is the perfect low-pressure way to try something new together.
What is Take A Kid To The Course?
Powered by the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) Canada, this program has been running since 2001 and has seen over 388,000 kids and families participate in building lifetime memories on the green. The philosophy? Replacing screen time with something kids will remember for years. One paying adult, one free junior round. Simple as that.

Tips for Taking a Kid to the Course for the First Time
Call ahead. Every course has slightly different times, age cutoffs, and rules. A quick call to the pro shop will save any surprises when you show up.
Keep it fun, not perfect. If you’re introducing a young kid to the game, forget about score. Let them swing as many times as they need and celebrate the good ones.
Gear doesn’t have to be fancy. Many courses have junior club rentals available. Check when you book your tee time.
Start on a shorter course. A par 3 or 9-hole course is perfect for beginners. Less walking, more action, and kids stay engaged.
