Celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 at Fort Edmonton Park
This International Women’s Day, something powerful is happening in Edmonton.
On March 7 and 8, 2026, Fort Edmonton Park and the Indigenous Peoples Experience will host an Indigenous-led, two-day cultural and healing gathering designed to move beyond traditional keynote events and into a space of culture, connection, reflection, and renewal.
This is not a sit-and-listen event.
It is immersive. It is participatory. It is grounded in Indigenous women’s leadership.
An Immersive, Indigenous-Led Experience
Rather than a single speaker or panel, guests will choose from a series of workshops led by Indigenous women throughout the day. This allows each participant to create a personalized journey rooted in movement, storytelling, land-based teachings, and restorative practices.
Through direct participation, attendees engage with teachings grounded in lived experience, cultural continuity, and embodied wellness.
Workshops taking place across the two days include:
• Hoop Dance Instruction – exploring the teachings and stories carried within the movement
• Traditional Plant Knowledge – examining the relationship between land, medicine, and wellness
• Nehiyaw Energy Healing – guided meditation grounded in balance and reconnection
• Inuit Culture & Community – sharing lived experience and cultural continuity
• Poetry & Storytelling – rooted in land, memory, and identity
• Reiki & Sound Bath – a restorative experience focused on rest and renewal
• Maskwa Medicines – exploring healing through reciprocity and shared knowledge
• Trauma-Sensitive Yoga – centred on gentle movement, breath, and mindfulness
Each session offers more than information. Participants gain practical tools for grounding, reflection, and personal well-being while deepening their understanding of Indigenous women’s resilience, knowledge systems, and leadership.
Rooted in the Indigenous Peoples Experience
The Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park was created as a space for truth-telling, dialogue, and cultural connection. This International Women’s Day gathering builds on that foundation.
It invites the broader Edmonton community to engage meaningfully with Indigenous women’s teachings in a respectful, participatory way.
This is about slowing down.
It is about reconnection.
It is about investing in yourself while honouring Indigenous leadership and knowledge.
