Now that Halloween is over, what do you do with the pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns? Compost them instead of throwing them away! Here are a couple of fun options for composting them with the kids.
Pumpkin Smash:
Bring your own pumpkin down to smash it to bits! 5+ ways to smash your jack-o-lantern. Family fun, free hot chocolate *bring your mug!*, and everyone gets to learn how to compost!
When: Saturday, November 2 – 1 pm to 4 pm
Where: River Loop Trail, Edmonton
Located beside Fort Edmonton Park and John Janzen Nature Centre. Free parking, accessible by transit and trails.
St. Albert Parish Pumpkin Walk:
Come drop your carved pumpkins to light up the family friendly pumpkin walk
Where: St. Albert Parish – 7 Vital Ave, St. Albert
When:
Drop off:
- Friday, November 1 – 4 pm to 6 pm
- Saturday, November 2 – 10 am to 2 pm
Pumpkin Walk:
Come down with the family to enjoy the pumpkin walk on Saturday, November 2 from 6:15 pm to 8 pm. Free admission, toonie refreshments will be available. Pumpkins will be composted after the event.
