Edmonton Heritage Festival 2019:
Heritage Days is back for another year – and good news – the weather looks like it is going to be fantastic for this year’s festivities. Not only is this an amazing place to get delicious food from a variety of vendors themed by country, but the entertainment and things to see is like nothing else – making this one of our favorite festivals of the Summer in Edmonton.
When:
- Saturday, August 3: 10 am to 9 pm
- Sunday, August 4: 10 am to 9 pm
- Monday, August 5: 10 am to 8 pm
Ticket sales stop at 7 pm on Monday, park closes at 8.
Where: William Hawrelak Park – 9330 Groat Rd NW, Edmonton
Getting to the Festival:
- Park N Ride – ETS has many drop off and pick up locations throughout the city
- Kiss N Drop – Have a friend (or taxi) drop you off at one of the 22 gates along Groat road and walk right in to the festival
- Ride your bikes – two secure bike compounds allow for safe bike parking on site
- Walk – the park is accessible from a footbridge on the south side from the Valley Zoo, down the stairs from Groat Road, or via a series of trails that wind their way through the surrounding ravine.
- You can boat there. Not a joke. There is now a River Dock just metres from Hawrelak ring road
See more details on getting to the festival here.
Admission is free
(Yay!) There is no cost to get in. However, donations for the food bank are very much appreciated, although not obligatory. Non perishable food items can be donated to a food bank volunteer at any of the entrances to the park.
Good to Know:
- Download the Festival Map before you go – scope out the different pavilions and note locations of the bathrooms 😉
- There is no parking on site. Plan alternative transportation
- Park N Ride buses tend to fill up quick. Expect to wait in line for 1-2 bus rotations before it is your turn, especially if you are bringing a stroller
- Bring water bottles
- Park & Ride locations can be found here
- This weekend is going to be hot! *fingers crossed* – bring hats, sun screen, comfortable shoes, etc.
Food tickets are $1 each:
Sold in sets of 20. Buy them on site or in advance on the Heritage Fest website.
Entertainment:
The festival is full of consistent entertainment – this includes a variety of cultured music, dances, acts, interactive displays and more. Plus – this year there is a Viking Village with reenactments, viking crafts and combat demonstrations that take place daily.
