This Friday, the Edmonton Elks are hosting their first ever Dog Days of Summer game, and your four-legged fan is invited to watch the game from their very own section. Here is everything you need to know before you and your best friend head to Commonwealth Stadium.

Presented by ATCO Energy, this is a first for the Green and Gold. Dogs get their own dedicated cheering section, plus dog-related activities happening around the stadium all night. It is a fun, high-energy way to watch some CFL football with your pup by your side.

🐾 The Zoomie Zone Rundown

Dogs are welcome, but only in one place. Here is what Edmonton Mama families need to know before bringing a pup to the game.

🎟️ SECTION MM ONLY

Section MM, the Zoomie Zone, is the only place dogs are allowed to sit, and dogs cannot be relocated anywhere else in the stadium. Add a Zoomie Zone Pass when purchasing tickets.

🪑 SEASON SEAT MEMBERS

Season Seat Members who want to bring a dog will need to relocate to Section MM for this game.

🙋 ONE DOG PER HANDLER

Each dog needs a ticketed handler who is 18 or older, and it is one dog per handler.

🚪 GATE 8 ONLY

Enter through the Dog Entry Gate (Gate 8, North Entrance) only. Re-entry with your dog is only allowed through Gate 8 as well.

🚫 WHERE DOGS CAN’T GO

No general seating, indoor areas, suites, lounges, clubs, concessions, retail stores, field level, or operational areas. Dogs stay in the designated section for the whole game.

💉 HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Dogs must be at least 6 months old, fully vaccinated, and comfortable around big crowds and loud noise. Proof of vaccination may be requested at the gate.

🦮 LEASH RULES

Leashes only, non-retractable and no longer than six feet. No retractable leashes, choke chains, prong collars, or shock collars.

💧 RELIEF STATIONS

Relief stations, waste bags, and water stations are set up near Section MM outside Gate 8, though it is a good idea to bring your own bowl.

“As the handler, you are responsible for your dog’s behaviour and cleanup for the whole game. A stadium full of cheering fans and sudden noise is a lot for some pups, so it is worth being honest about whether your dog will actually enjoy the atmosphere before you commit to bringing them.”

Whether or not you are bringing a dog, here is the full lineup for Friday, all times MT.

9:00 AM to end of game — Elks Team Store open

5:00 to 7:00 PM — Elks Tailgate presented by CLRA, free and open to everyone, Lot B outside Gate 2

5:00 to 7:00 PM — EE Beer Garden (18+), also outside Gate 2

5:00 PM to halftime — The Brick Kids Zone, free with inflatables, face painting, and mini games

6:00 PM — Gates open

7:00 PM — Kickoff, Elks vs. BC Lions

✅ Know Before You Go

Commonwealth Stadium has a clear bag policy. Clear bags no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ are allowed, with exceptions for medical items and family bags after inspection.
Your Elks game ticket doubles as free ETS LRT, bus, and Park and Ride transit before and after the game through the Ticket to Ride program.
Youth 17 and under get in free when accompanied by a paying adult for select games. Confirm before heading out whether this applies to Dog Days of Summer specifically, as it was listed as a general 2026 season promotion rather than tied to this exact date.
