🚒 Edmonton Fire Cadet Program Applications Are Open for 2026
If you have a teen in high school who’s thinking about a future in emergency services, this is one opportunity you’re going to want on your radar.
The Edmonton Fire Rescue Services Fire Cadet Program is now accepting applications, and it’s one of those programs that can truly shape a young person’s path, confidence, and future career direction.
What is the Fire Cadet Program?
Designed for students in Grades 10 to 12, this hands-on, two-semester program gives teens a real look into what a career in fire services and emergency response actually looks like.
It’s not just classroom learning either. Students get a mix of:
• Real-world, hands-on experiences
• Leadership development opportunities
• Community involvement
• Team-based training environments
• Exposure to the day-to-day life of firefighters
This is the kind of experience that goes far beyond a typical high school course.
What Teens Will Gain
This program is built to help students grow in ways that matter, both personally and professionally.
Participants will:
• Learn the importance of mental and physical wellness
• Build strong teamwork and leadership skills
• Gain valuable employment-ready skills
• Connect with like-minded peers with similar goals
• Get a true inside look at careers in emergency services
And one of the biggest bonuses?
👉 Students can earn up to 6 high school credits while participating.
Program Details
• 📅 Program Start: September 2026
• ⏳ Duration: 10 months (two semesters)
• 🎓 Eligibility: Grades 10 to 12 students
• 📝 Application Deadline: April 30, 2026
Students who are selected to move forward will be invited to an interview and will also complete a physical fitness test as part of the process.
