Edmonton Families Can Get Free Backpacks, School Supplies and Haircuts on September 3, 2023

One of the biggest back-to-school events to help local Edmonton families in need is back for 2023. On September 3, the Can Man Dan Foundation has organized its annual “We’re Here for Ya Day” where low income families can access what they need to get the kids ready for school.

All supplies and services for this day are free and will be on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last.

This event and everything provided is for families who otherwise would not be able to afford new school supplies, etc for their kids for this school year.

What is being provided:

Good to know:

  • This event is hosted by the Can Man Dan Foundation
  • All services, supplies and resources are donated by generous sponsors and donations are always needed and welcome!
  • All supplies and services are given out on a first come, first serve basis and are in limited supply
  • Expect lines to be very long – it could be hours, so come early and be sure to dress for the weather!
  • Children need to be present to collect any backpacks or school supplies for them
  • For this event, there are no stand-ins (no holding a spot in line for anyone else), no substitutes, or rain checks
  • Adults need to come with photo ID or some form of identification
  • If you are coming for a haircut, please make sure your/your kids’ hair is washed, clean and ready to be cut!
  • Food hampers and hair cuts are for all ages, but the bags and school supplies are for children who are currently enrolled in school and are between the ages of 1-18. Children must be there in-person
