Whitecourt River Slides: The Best Family Tubing Day Trip from Edmonton

📍 Festival Park (Rotary Park) · End of 51 Street, Whitecourt (about 1.5 hrs northwest on Hwy 43)
📅 Open daily all summer · 🎟️ FREE · Bring your own tube
⏰ Avoid Wednesdays 10 AM – noon (maintenance closure)

One of the most beloved family day trips from Edmonton and it is completely free. Rotary Park in Whitecourt has two man-made river slide tubing courses — shallow enough for young kids to ride on their own and walk back up the side without help (a three year old can do it). One channel is a little faster with fewer turns, one is slower and more winding — choose based on your kids. Also at the park: a spray park, playground, pond, beach area, volleyball, soccer, covered pavilion with a concession, and separate parking for RVs. Bring your own tube (or grab one at the concession if available, though bringing your own is better). Wear water shoes. Rinse off before the drive home. The McLeod River is also right there for those wanting a longer 2.5-hour float. A genuinely perfect Alberta summer day — pack a lunch and make a full day of it.
