The Edmonton Glow festival is back in Edmonton for the 2021 Christmas season! Walk under millions of twinkling lights, see interactive displays, stroll through the iconic light tunnel, see Santa, play on the magical swings and more. The whole event is family friendly and this year there is a huge additional area for eating with a live entertainment stage. Oh, and the photo ops… so so many.
When: November 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022
Where: Edmonton Expo Centre – 7515-118 Avenue, Edmonton
What you need to know:
- You need tickets. Purchase them on the Glow website beforehand here
- Ticket prices vary day to day and by age
- This is an indoor event
- This is a family friendly event!
- Parking at the Expo Centre will be available at a special rate for GLOW – $10 per vehicle
- Coat check is available outside at a suggested donation of $2/jacket (recommended as it is warm in there!)
Tips:Â It is cheaper to attend on weekdays
What you can expect to see:
- Huge illuminated displays
- LED swings
- Christmas market area where you can shop
- Huge seated area for eating complete with a handful of food truck/concession options
- Live entertainment on the stage in the eating area
- Train rides
- Light tunnel
- Santa
- Roving live entertainment (like princesses & Olaf!)
- Hanging, glowing photo frames with props
- The best candy apples, ever. (personal opinion)
Tips for going with the kids:
- The expo centre is huge! Bring a stroller or wagon for smaller kids who might want to take a break from walking
- There will be gift shops, snacks and drinks available for purchase. You may end up with several things to carry out, or around, especially if you don’t check jackets – be prepared for this!
- You can see Santa while in there! He’s close to train
- Keep an eye out for special characters – we saw Disney princesses and Olaf during out visit 🙂
- You are going to want to take pictures of everything. Make sure your phones are charged!
