Earlier this year, NPR launched its first podcast for kids and families, Wow in the World, hosted by Guy Raz and Mindy Thomas. This weekly show invites curious kids and their grown-ups on a journey away from their screens, inside their brains and into the most amazing stories in science, technology, and new discoveries.
Designed for kids between 5-12 (and their parents), the podcase a new way for families to connect, look up and discover the wonders in the world around them.
“As parents and caregivers, many of us grapple with screen-time. This show is not just an alternative to screens but a show about celebrating the spirit of inquiry and encouraging kids to ask even more questions.”
We love the fact that the Podcast not only encourages adventure and discovery, but that there are questions that parents can use as a guide when they’re encouraging conversation.
There are currently 11 episodes that parents and children can listen to, with new episodes being released weekly. Need something different to listen to at the beach, in the backyard, or even on a road trip? We love the idea of Wow in the World.Â
