Moms – you’re going to want to look into this. I just spent the last month researching (and even trying!) TMS treatment right here in Edmonton. Depression, postpartum, anxiety… sound like things you’d rather live without? Keep reading.

What is TMS

Trans-cranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a painless, quick and non invasive treatment. It is very effective and treats more than 20 different conditions, including depression. Treatment can be done in as little as two weeks! It works by stimulating the parts of the brain that regulate your mood with electromagnetic pulses.

Candidates for the treatment

Anyone. I am writing about TMS because I know so many moms (and dads) who could benefit from this significantly. Perfect for anyone looking for alternatives to medication *and is safe to undergo while breastfeeding* with no down time at all after treatments. It has been medically documented to be effective on people suffering from:

  • Depression (including postpartum depression)
  • Anxiety
  • Migraines
  • Eating disorders
  • PTSD
  • Chronic pain
  • Addictions
  • OCD and more

Good to know

  • Consults with the doctor at the Neuromed Clinic in Edmonton are free
  • TMS is Health Canada & FDA approved
  • This treatment has been available through Alberta Health Services since January, 2019
  • Treatment is medically supervised
  • Each treatment takes only three minutes!
  • A 30 treatment package is what is suggested to see results. Patients can receive treatment 3 times in one appointment with a short break between each three minute stimulation – making each appointment approximately 15 minutes long, and the total treatment time less than 2 weeks if you come in daily
  • These exact treatments cost up to 9x more in the United States (this treatment plan is $9000 USD in California!) The Neuromed clinic right here in Edmonton has some of the lowest prices for this treatment in the world.

Location: 12328 102 Ave NW (In the Evolve fitness facility), Edmonton

My personal experience with treatment

It was fast and 100% painless. The feeling at first is similar to when a doctor checks your reflexes – it doesn’t hurt, but I could feel a stimulation. After a couple of pulses, I noticed it less and less until I couldn’t feel it anymore at all. Easy, quick and has proven to be very effective.
