Check out Where You Can Experience Open Farm Days in Alberta With the Kids August 15 & 16, 2020

Open Farm Days in Alberta means you can give the kiddos an opportunity to experience a real farm and to see where our food comes from. This August more than 80 farms, ranches and ag-tourism operators open their gates and invite visitors for this two-day Alberta wide annual event. Several are located very close to Edmonton, including one right here inside the city!

Locations Close to Edmonton:

Northlands Urban Farm

  • Vegetable gardens, a luscious pollinator patch, heritage fruit tree nursery, flock of laying hens, solitary bee hotels, and a honey bee hive; learn about growing food right here in the city!
  • August 16 – 9 am to 4:30 pm
  • Location: in Edmonton at the NW corner of 113th Avenue and 79 Street, just west of Borden Park

Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm

  • Come engage in a new way of thinking about food, farming and our place in the world. Regenerative farming goes far beyond sustainability. Hands-on “do to learn” activities: children’s potato digging, growing vegetables, and farm fun with crop mazes, petting farm, and our farm lunch and drink. $$: train ride, veggies, food and drink

Barr Estate Winery

  • Winery Tours, Tastings, BBQ, Garden Walks, Farm Animals

Great and Small Adventure Farm

  • Gospel Theme, market gardens, small animals, pony ride, outdoor games (fun golf, frisbee golf, soccer golf), forest therapy, picnic areas, and wagon rides
  • August 15 – 10 am to 5 pm

Hill and Dale Farm as RRFS

  • Local producers showcasing their farms and fresh-made Alberta Artisan products. Hands-on & interactive activities (blacksmith, ferrier, spinners, weavers, quilting, animal petting zoo and 4-H projects) Chef inspired creations fill your plate at the ticketed Long Table Dinner in the evening
  • August 15 – Vendor/Market/Interactive displays – 9 am to 4 pm; Long table dinner – 6 pm to 9 pm

Pots’N Pansies Greenhouse and Garden Centre

  • Greenhouses open, Country Junque Antiques and vendor store, Vendors on location with their products , Pale Horse Photography on location in our photo area offering mini photo shoots both days, wagon rides and lady bug releases
  • August 15 & 16 – 10 am to 6 pm

Prairie Skies Ranch

  • Farm tours, farm gate sales meat and eggs, food sampling
