Enjoy 10 full days of fun at Edmonton’s longest running winter festival! This all ages event has something to offer everyone. Sharpen your skates and try out one of the newest outdoor rinks, get inspired in the snow sculpture garden, take a stroll on the Folk Trail and even learn all about Indigenous traditions. All of this and more awaits you at the Silver Skate Festival!
When: February 9 – 19, 2024
Where: Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park; 13221 Buena Vista Rd NW
Public Skating – 9 AM – 11PM Daily
Festival Programming begins at 12PM on Weekends and 4PM on Weekdays
Getting to the Festival:
- There is a FREE shuttle service being offered on weekends through ETS, looping through the following stops: South Campus Transit Centre (Bay D), Fort Edmonton Park and Laurier Park (Check the website for shuttle times)
- Parking is available at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, but is limited
- Fort Edmonton Park is for overflow parking only
- There is NO parking allowed at South Campus
- There is an accessible parking lot on the far side of the traffic circle

Activities for Kids:
- Snow Build Zone – Premade snow blocks await your child. Let their creativity run wild as they build anything that comes to mind!
- Snow Mounds – Create a masterpiece! The snow mounds are a blank slate to let your kid’s imagination run wild
- Winter Slide – The hike to the top is worth it!
- Ball Hockey – Hockey nets and sticks await your little ones. Take your best shot!
- Broomball – Try something new! Have fun on the specially made broomball court
- Jan Can Curling – Don’t miss your chance to try out Canada’s favorite Olympic sport
Things to Consider:
- Don’t forget sunglasses and Sunscreen – The reflection from the sun can be quite strong off of the snow and ice
- Bring a reusable water bottle – Feel free to refill your bottle in the main skate pavilion
- Have cash on hand – Most merchants are cashless. However, it’s always a good idea to be prepared in the event that cash is required
- Ensure your devices are fully charged – The cold can cause your phone to deplete at a faster rate
- Dress for the weather – This is an outdoor event. Please check the forecast ahead of time and come prepared
