FREE City of Edmonton Outdoor Family Fun in the River Valley, January to March

Head down to the River Valley in Edmonton this Winter for free scheduled outdoor programming for families every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from January to March, 2022. Activities will include sledding, outdoor fires, orienteering, hot chocolate, snowshoeing, snow forts & more.

Times:

  • Fridays – 6 pm to 9 pm
  • Saturdays & Sundays – 2 pm to 8 pm

Victoria Park

Location: 12030 River Valley Rd NW – Site 4 behind the Pavilion at the Skate Oval

Days/Times/Activities:

  • Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm – Hot chocolate & Warming Fire
  • January Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Orienteering
  • February Saturdays & Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm- Snow Forts & Snowshoes
  • March Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Fire building & Snow Forts
  • Every Saturday & Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm – Warming Fire

Rundle Park

  • January Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Snow Forts & Snowshoes
  • February Saturdays & Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm – Kick Sledding
  • March Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Orienteering
  • Every Saturday & Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm – Warming Fire

Hawrelak Park

Location: 9330 Groat Road NW – Site 5, between the Paddle boat rental Centre and the Mail Pavilion

Days/Times/Activities:

  • Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm – hot chocolate & warming fire
  • January Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Kick Sledding
  • February Saturdays & Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm – Orienteering & Snow Shoes
  • March Saturdays & Sundays  from 2 pm to 6 pm – Snow Forts & Snow Shoes
  • Every Saturday & Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm – Warming Fire

All activities are free! Programs are made for kids aged 6-12 years old, but families and individual participation are welcome.

What to bring:

  • Dress for the weather – gloves, toque, winter jacket & ski pants
  • Snacks & water bottle

Equipment for activities will be available to those participating in the programs; sharing of equipment may be required.
