With summer right around the corner, it’s time to get a start thinking about those adventures you’re going to have. Some of our favourite adventures are close to home, and you can reach each one of these waterparks in under ninety minutes from Edmonton.
Blackfalds Abbey Centre | At under $20 to visit for the entire family, and a fun outdoor waterpark that’s great for all ages, whether you’ve got older kids that want to play on water slides or younger children that want to play in the splash park. Located just outside of Red Deer, it’s a great way to spend the day and there’s concession on lunch if you didn’t bring lunch. Pictured above.Â
Whitecourt River Slides | Free when you bring your own tube, this man-made river course has two options for sliding, one a bit faster than the other. On site, you’ll find a playground and a splash park and a small concession. Bring your own food and make a day of it.
Discovery Canyon | Revamped for 2017 and set to open in June, the shallow tubing area and extended beach is a favourite destination because it’s close to Edmonton, and it’s another option for the family that’s free. We can’t wait to experience it for the first time, this year.
Sylvan Lake Wibit Obstacle Course | The Wibit course is one of those ‘do it at least once’ during the summer months. It’s a great option for older kids, and gets kids out on the lake trying out the obstacle course.
I didn’t know about the Sylvan Lake Wibit Obstacle Course. Discovery Canyon is an amazing place.
