Why This Day Matters

September 30 is also known as Orange Shirt Day, inspired by the story of Phyllis Webstad, whose orange shirt was taken away on her first day at a residential school. The day serves as a powerful reminder of the experiences of survivors and the generations impacted.

Attending a local event is one way families can show solidarity, deepen understanding, and be part of ongoing reconciliation.
