Looking for a winter adventure with the family? Try ice fishing at Wabamun Lake Kids Can Catch! With pre-drilled holes, free fishing rods, and no license needed for Alberta’s Family Fishing Weekend, it’s the perfect time to get outside!
How to Join:
- Register online.
- Check out the FAQs at albertakidscancatch.com for all the details.
- Park at Waterfront Park and walk to the event site (no strollers or wagons on ice).
- Sign in and grab a fishing rod (over 400 loaners available!).
- Find a pre-drilled hole, drop your line, and fish away with tips from mentors.
What’s Included:
– Free snacks, lunch, and drinks (while supplies last).
– No fishing license required.
– Walleye and pike are catch and release (unless you have a walleye tag).

The Fire and Ice Festival promises to be an exciting day for families, featuring a kids’ firefighter obstacle course where little ones can test their agility, and a petting zoo by Finnegan Farms offering the chance to interact with friendly animals. Home Depot will also be there with fun crafts for kids to enjoy, while sleigh rides provide a charming winter experience for all. Visitors can treat themselves to frozen maple syrup, watch an ice carver at work, and enjoy a mesmerizing fire dance performance. Food and refreshments will be provided by Save-On-Foods and Tim Hortons to keep everyone fueled throughout the event. There’s much more in store, making this festival an unmissable celebration!
