Eating with Kids in Edmonton: My Fries

My four year old has recently developed a love for good old Canadian poutine. He refers to it as the “saucy cheese fries”. For National French Fry Day, I wanted to share a locally and family owned hidden gem that we hit up every week when we are running errands and need to grab a quick lunch in between.

My Fries

The best part about their fries is that they are baked, not fried and very little salt is added because their motto is you can always add the salt but you can’t take it out. We love this locally owned hidden gem for many reasons. The owners are fantastic and personable, customer service is top notch and consistent, their menu is 100% gluten free, customizable and accommodates vegetarian/vegan food preferences with their vegan gravy and cheese options.

All of their ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible, cut fresh and prepared from scratch daily. Handmade chili is slow simmered daily, meats are slow cooked and sliced, guacamole is made fresh everyday along with their gravy options and their mushrooms and onions are freshly sauteed.

My Fries is a great option for a quick crunchy french fry fix that is healthier for you since they are baked instead of fried. Their sweet potato fries is another great alternative considering the nutritional value of tasty sweet potatoes. There are three different size options available when ordering – small, medium and large. We have yet to consume a large portion and their small serving is more than enough for my little guys. Order a classic poutine – which is our personal favorite or get something from their customizable menu like the taco poutine or chili cheese fries which is also a favorite in our household. Add a milkshake to drink or choose from their wide variety of glass bottles like Jones Soda or Retro Coca Cola bottled drinks.

Since we live pretty central and there is currently only one location, the commute doesn’t take long and it’s always worth it. My Fries is also conveniently located right across from Hide n Seek Indoor Playground.

To get a taste of our favorite family owned french fry restaurant, you can visit their location at 16934-107 Avenue. You can also call ahead and order pickup or go online for delivery service from Skip The Dishes. To order online, you must be within the delivery zone of the restaurant in order to maintain the quality of your order.
